Happy Monday! Hope everyone had an amazing weekend–I definitely did…if only they were a little longer!
Friday night our friends were in town from Arizona so me and The Boo were excited to spend some time with them! I knew we were going to go sit in the bar at Chili’s and I was going to be tempted with all of their yummyness, so before we left I had some veggies to keep me satisfied for a while
- Broccoli
- Green Beans
- Okra
- Mushrooms
- Water Chestnuts to add a little crunch
I love veggies! 🙂
Of course when we went out I had my favorite Presidente Margarita–no trip to Chili’s is complete without one obviously! I didn’t take a picture but trust me…it was delicious! We of course had some chips and salsa and then I decided to order some chicken, steak and shrimp fajitas for everyone to share. I just ate some of the meat and shrimp with a bit of the guac that was on the side–I chose not to have any of it in the tortilla.
OMG so I have to share this drink that The Boo made on Friday! We were playing around with our Magic Bullet and trying to think of different fun smoothie ideas
- Pineapple
- Strawberries
- Bananas
- Rum
All fresh fruit and a splash of rum–what’s not to love about that?
We saw The Ugly Truth on Saturday…LOVED it! I thought it was such a cute movie, I love love love Katherine Heigl–her and Gerard Butler made a great match for the movie.
I made another wonderful green smoothie before a trip to the gym this weekend–full of the usual
- Spinach
- Oats
- Banana
- Almond Milk
- Flax
- PB
Deliciousness 🙂
I had a great day at the gym yesterday! As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not really a runner. I try and try but it’s almost as if I feel like my body is rejecting it–I walk on an incline at a fast pace and I was content with that. But I realllllllly want to run! I’ve just always wanted to be that person that can get up, throw on some sneakers and just run for miles and miles but have never had it in me. WELL yesterday I don’t know what got into me…I ran! Ok, not for too long but for me…it felt amazing! I started walking on my incline for about 5 min. and then decided to put the book down and go for it–I ran for 5 min straight! I know it’s so weird to some people because it’s not really that long, however for me it SO is! So then I walked for another 10 min feeling all proud of myself 🙂 when I decided to do it again! But this time I decided that if I could do 5…I could for sure do 6! I did it! A total of 11 minutes I spent running–so it wasn’t consecutive but it was something. I’m going to work on it, I’m going to be that girl who runs for miles and miles…it just might take me a while to get there!
I finished The Time Traveler’s Wife today WOW was it a great book! I can’t wait to see the movie, I hope they did it justice! Tonight I’m going to start The Year of Fog. Has anyone read it??
Dinner tonight was light but good!
Hope everyone has a wonderful night and rest of the week! 🙂 Who is watching The Bachelorette tonight???? I’m sooooo excited!
I love the rum in the smoothie – I’ll have to try that as it reminds me of our honeymoon!
I’m so behind on the Bachelorette, I’ve been DVRing it but need to get caught up like 3 episodes. I can’t believe it’s over already – I hope I don’t hear who won before I watch it but I’m dying to know!
WOW! The bachelorette was crazy tonight. So glad who she picked though… I won’t say who for those of you that haven’t seen it yet.
As for Chilies, I love that place… my biggest weakness is their chips and salsa. I can eat the whole basket by myself.
So many movies in theaters I need to watch!! The Ugly Truth, The Time Traveler’s Wife, Harry Potter!
I’m gonna hit up all these when I’m home, finally.
Hooray for running!! That’s how I started back in the day. It’s hard for most people at first too, it’s not you! For me, the first 2 miles are the hardest. After you get past those you are good to go and feel on top of the world.
I had to stop running because of shin pain and I’m struggling through the early miles AGAIN. It’s rough! Keep up the good work….soon enough you’ll be addicted. Just you wait.
I love your pretty pink smoothie! Very nice job on the run!
I love love water chestnuts! They are so good on salads too. I see you have a magic bullet- I couldn’t live without mine 😉 Hope you’re having a really nice Tuesday
how much spinach can you stuff into that blender?
I love veggies too! ; )
Everyone I know that is a long distance runner told me the first 3 miles are the hardest to get through. It’s totally a mental game over anything else….some people like me need intense techno-beat-put-to-any-song-on-earth to keep up the rhythm, and other people need nothing but their thoughts and a nice running route! When I start running again this fall, I’ll be totally ready to take on that mental challenge–I’ve been reading so much about how to beat that mental game and how to prep my workout so that there’s no need to stop for water/feet hurt/I CAN’T GO ANY FURTHER….but doesn’t it always, always, ALWAYS feel amazing afterward? That’s the key!
Keep up the amazing work!! 🙂
Hey Chickie! Quick question, what did you season those veggies in? They look delish!
Mari-
I believe I just used some EVOO and a bit of salt and pepper!
Your light dinner looks so refreshing and delicious. Sometimes, nothing beat a simple and clean meal. Fish and veggies is an ideal option for this.
Hope you are having a great week!
I loved the Time Traveller’s Wife too, and am really looking forward to the movie – and like you, am hoping it won’t be a disappointment!
Everything you’re making looks so good! I had a green smoothie for breakfast today – I’m still getting used to the spinach taste!
OMG that smoothie sounds AMAZING!!!!!
